Never-ending summer

By May Silja Andersen Holm

Never-ending summer

It can almost feel like a never-ending summer. The long, light-filled days, happy children and adults and the glow from the heating lamp, which makes it possible to prolong the outdoor summer. We have been - and are - madly happy about our heating lamps from Wishco, which we have both at the summer house, at home on the balcony and at our boat shed in the Copenhagen harbour.

Fall comes sneaking very quietly, and for many of us this means huddling inside - snuggling into a corner of the couch, under a blanket, with a nice cup of tea and a TV series. We do that kind of "hygge" in our family, too, but because we now get the warmth from our heating lamps, we eat, read, play more outside, and we spend more time outdoors with friends and family than we used to do.

The nice-looking heating lamp
I´ve always thought a heating lamp clumsy and unnecessary - especially if you did not have loads of space. And I also thought that they were guaranteed to be crazily expensive. I´m surprised at just how much we depend on the Wishco heating lamps already, they run on electricity and therefore they are also better for the environment compared to the "big ol ´chunky ones" we all know from cafés. They´re even very nice-looking! Modern, Danish design, which you don´t mind having on the wall of the summer house, but which, by the way, you can get a tripod for, also, so that it can easily be moved to the greenhouse, the garden, etc. depending on your needs.

I am not a woman who was born with a hammer in hand. On the contrary, I have ten thumbs, as my husband would say. I think he exaggerates (ha!), but I will concede, however, that he is right when he says that it is better if he takes care of the handiwork. However, it is really easy to operate (with the on/off button or maybe a small remote control) the Wishco heating lamps. Even I can install it easily - turn it on and off, and that feels like a success in itself ;)

Not just heating - but also a lamp!
We have used the heating lamp in the summer house, basically every evening this summer, and at nightfall we have used the lamp as a source of heating and as a cosy lamp as well. We have played loads of boardgames, eaten countless yummy desserts, we have been drinking wine and mojitos galore and just talked till dawn - under the heating lamp. I am already starting to look forward to the cold months at Sydhavnen, with a book and a nice cup of tea under my own mini version of the heating lamp.
