Summer fun on the balcony

By May Silja Holm (@maysilja)

Even at the start of a new year, I am already looking forward to summer on the balcony. All the fun parts of the winter period have come and gone, and the warmer seasons still seem so far away. That’s why an important condition for my Copenhagen apartment, when I originally bought it, was the three small 3m2 “city balconies”, on the apartment’s exterior.

We used to live on a site street to Strøget, which had a wonderfully, idyllic central yard, with cobblestones, yellow houses, and lots of flowers. My only condition for our new home, besides direct sunlight through the windows, and more space, was a balcony.
I find it so important to be able to step out into the fresh air – even if it is just in a tiny square.

When our kids were younger, we didn’t use the balcony that much. But after they’ve aged a bit, we’re able to keep the door open, and we now use the balcony almost daily, in the non-winter months.

From late march to late October, we do everything from eating breakfast, lunch, dinner, playing UNO, having a glass of wine, etc. out on the balcony. The kids have also started to use it themselves. And luckily the kids can easily operate our MINI-patio heater from Wishco, by themselves, due to its easy plug n´ play design.

On the colder days, we turn on the small, environmentally neutral, patio heater. It’s powered by electricity and just needs to be plugged into the nearest wall socket. It can heat up to 17m2 and can therefore also be used on larger balconies, in the yard, etc. Due to its small, compact size and aesthetically pleasing, clean design, it fits perfectly on our tiny city balcony. And then it even comes in both black and white.

Buying a MINI has been a huge gift to the family. And several of my friends have, with slight envy in their voices, asked for the price, so they can get one for themselves. It is truly nicely designed.

The word outdoor heating can often come with negative stigmas like burning through a lot of energy or being expensive. But that cannot be said for the MINI. The Wishco patio heater only cost 170 Euro., and even despite the rising electricity prices, the MINI only cost about 0,4 Euro pr. hour. So, everyone can keep the heat outdoors – from early spring to late autumn.

If you need to heat up an area that’s larger than 17m2, like a large outdoor terrace or pavilion, Wishco has plenty of great options for you.

I can imagine a great summer party in the holiday cottage, where the heater becomes the gathering place, during the cold evening/night hours, and I look forward to it already.

*The operating price in the blog, is based on “Forsyningstilsynets” official records for the 1st quarter of 2022. Due to the heavily fluctuating, we can’t give a 100% concrete operating price. A Wishco MINI 1500 uses 1,5 kWh. We recommend that you cross-reference with the current energy prices in your area, for a correct measure.
